I love working with Zephyr… were both as insane as eachother. Our brains are indeed on the same path when it comes to making things look cool… and we have one buttload of fun while were at it.

A Tribute to Mt Eerie

22 Aug 2010

Been listening to alot of Mt Eerie whilst creating work for Lets Eat the Dead 2: Death Feast… and somehow this came out.

If anyone can find me the actual CD for this fucking amazing band and fucking amazing album… please tell me. I will buy it… over and over again for as many friends as I can. I tried pretty hard to find it on the net, but my google skills are pretty fail. All I have is a ripped version of an ex boyfriends… and that isn’t fair at all.

The detail shots are there to show ya all how freaking huge this piece is. Hopefully the final print (when I have the funds to back it) will be around 2 meters high. Pretty excited about it. I’m sure in a week I’ll hate this piece more than anything in the world…. but making it was pretty painstaking after having so many PC troubles. So I’m sort of attached to it now! hahaha

For the time being though a smaller much more managable version of this will be printed for Lets Eat the Dead…

Whats that? you ask me…

Well kiddos! heres the thinggo that discribes it…

Brown Sugar Gallery
Level 1, 274 Rundle St
Adelaide,

Prepare to re-ingest! After a year rotting underground, Adelaide’s favourite morbid arts event has clawed its way to the surface and is lurching towards Sugar on Rundle St for LETS EAT THE DEAD 2: DEATH FEAST.

Lets Eat the Dead 2: Death Feast is a veritable mass-grave-smorgasbord of art and music; a group exhibition of mixed media artworks by some of Adelaide’s most exciting young artists exploding the current climate of macabre …media carnivorousness, cannibalistic religion, re-animated memes and culinary holocausts in a ghoulishly intoxicating and grimly hypnotic voodoo-orgy of light and colour.

Death Feast will be digging up unwholesome paintings, photography, sculpture, performance and video art by South Australian artists Luku, Nickas, Store, Staci Wilson, Joshua Searson, Adam Murakami, Jake Bresanello, Romi Graham, Amira H, Sam Evans, Jason Ankle, Zaen Kreecha, Gee Greenslade and Simone-Clare Hede, and serving it to you on a funk laden party plate.

Surely only the foolish and self destructive among you would dare to miss out on this Zombie Jamboree, as the penalty for non-attendance is digestion.

The wake begins at 9pm, Thursday September 2nd 2010 at Brown Sugar Gallery with wine, song, lip smacking and fond memories of the dearly departed, but the open casket is viewable right throughout September from 9pm till late.

Please come! It’s gonna totally rock!

Love and Hugs to you all

Hey everyone!

I have been so lazy with updating this blog. I really should get around to doing it more often.

To tell you the truth I have been on many adventures, some great ones and some not so great ones.

My health hasn’t been at its most amazing of late and so I have been shooting much less and spending more time locked away in the office making fun things. Its been a lovely experiance and I have been making a pretty big effort not to be shooting so much commercial stuff so I can get back to the stuff thats really in my heart.

Somedays I catch myself and realise that photography has become something of just a day job, the kind of day job that I get home from and collapse in bed with a hot cup of tea, hiding away untill I need to crawl out of bed to do more work. I never ever wanted this to be that way… because I believe that every client should get the best of me. Wich is why lately I have been shooting less and less for everyone else and more for myself.

This has proven to be one exciting adventure. One really truely exciting adventure… because fot the first time in a long time I have been really able to experement and play with photography as a medium much like back when I was at uni. I think some photographers accidently stop playing when they start getting work on a constant basis.

The product of all this has been that I have been able to take some stuff I have learnt into client work, wich has really made a world of difference. But… what am I doing with all the images from these experemental times?

Well… over the next week or two I will be publishing a limited edition run of quirky strange books called “Vibrations” – a colaborative effort between myself and one of my closest colaborators Zephyr Elf Spleep. It will be around about 20 pages of ten previously unseen and unreleased photos. They are personally some of my favourite work that I have done to date… mostly becuase they are done completely for myself and not anyone else.

The images come omplete with the vibrations storey. A strange little tale about one girl sitting alone in a room.

I heaps look forward to bringing all this new stuff to you and hope that everyone loves the work as much as I do.

Also… a while ago I was featured as one of Australias top Emerging Photographers… that was indeeeed a thrill! So check out their website http://www.austtopphotographers.com.au/winners/2010-emerging-winners I was pretty damned excited!

Much love and hugs!
Gee
