I am completely a Christian, and cannot for the life of me understand how this ‘marry the person you love’ business just hasn’t caught on yet. It is completely UN-Christian to go about telling people that they are wrong to love who they love.

I agree with you Gee, in 50 years, our kid’s kids will laugh at how silly our generations were.

A gutsy post, yes, but without any hint of angry meanness. I think you described this conundrum perfectly.

It was scarey posting this knowing so many of my Christian friends would read this. Many of them feel the same way as you, however others don’t.

Cardinal Pell bothers me a fair bit and I’m sad that in the minds of many people without faith that he is the person who is the public face. There are many others I wish were in his position instead.

well said, glad that not everyone is drinking Cardinal Pell’s kool-aid in Australia. I get mighty frustrated trying explain to people that I’m a Christian and 500% in support of gay marriage. It’s tough, because some people accuse me of trivialising my faith, whilst others accuse me of siding with the homophobes. I believe we don’t choose our sexuality. The evidence is there, clear and simple – all humans should share equal rights. If you have the capacity to love somebody so strongly that you want to spend the rest of your life with them in marriage, then you should have that right, end of story.

i totally understand what u mean and really appreciate this post you made. i finally took a photo of my now husband a few months ago, and it is the photo that lasted the longest as my desktop wallpaper and means more than any other image i’ve taken. thanks for posting this.
